EPIC FAIL: Conservatives are fake Christians.

“I’m gonna vote Democratic no matter what.”

Okay. You must really hate Republicans and Independents.

“Fake Christians”: “They wanna be judge and jury. I’m for gay marriage–it’s none of my business if gay people want to get married. I’m pro-choice and I think these Christians, first of all, they’re not supposed to judge other people but they are the most hypocritical judge of people that we have in this country. It bugs the hell out of me when they act like they’re Christians and they’re not forgiving at all.”

People like this are so typical today. Judging people for judging people, and then calling them hypocritical. Plus, Christians can judge. John 7:24.

I mean, seriously, what kind of miserable excuse for a Christian doesn’t want to stop infanticide?

EPIC FAIL: The Church of Hate and Folly (Westboro Baptist)

Westboro… Calvinists? No. The concept of grace is completely alien to them. I wonder if they ever bother to pray for the lost.

I noticed that the person who posted these videos has a not-so-hidden agenda against Calvinists and refuses to accept that the Bible teaches the sovereignty of God in all things. Her skewed view of Calvinism coupled with the anti-grace, anti-Calvinistic practice perpetrated by Westboro “Baptist” Church does not make Calvinism invalid. I think even most hyper-Calvinists would be upset with what Westboro is doing.

That said, BBC did a great job on this documentary:

Hold on a second, though! I can’t just leave it at that. What I must give to the Westboro freaks is that they are actually doing something, which is more than can be said about most Christians today. While their “Gospel” is a distortion of the true Gospel, radically focused on God’s wrath and completely ignoring God’s grace, at least they are doing something. Kinda like Mormons. They get it all wrong, but at least they’re motivated. We who have the true Gospel (that God has revealed through His Word that He will save those who trust in Jesus to the praise of His glorious grace) MUST preach the true Gospel, or all they’ll hear is that all God wants is for you to feel good through mystical experiences, that God wants you to be rich & healthy, that God hates you, that God wants to give you a purpose, or something else that is not true. Preach it. They need to hear it. And we need to find our motivation to preach the Gospel in fearing and respecting God more than we fear men.

Finally, if anyone can find the 8th and final part of this documentary, I’d appreciate a link to it. It seems that BBC demanded it removed from youtube.

EPIC FAIL: The Chunky Bible

“Chunky” is just not a word that appeals to me. And… well, I’m pretty sure that this video will live up to any negative impression you have of the idea of a “chunky” Bible.

What I don’t understand is why the little things you rip out to give to people aren’t all Scripture verses. There are ridiculously goofy quotes, too! Check out the Chunky Bible’s site to learn more!

“The lighthearted quotes are coupled with relevant Scripture verses and chunks of wisdom for everyday life with quotes by well-known people from John Ortberg, Mother Thersa, Dolly Parton, and Mark Twain.”

For one thing, they may want to check their spelling of the name of a certain popular Catholic nun. Secondly, who are these guys anyway? Was Mark Twain even a Christian? Oh, Zondervan.

Here’s the sad thing: Zondervan will probably make bank off of this Bible.

The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” — John 2:13-17

EPIC FAIL: Charismatic Chaos.

I’m trying to figure out if this is supposed to be speaking in tongues, a screamo imitation, part of an exorcism, or just a poor demon-possessed girl. Regardless, I’m shocked that no one is running about trying to help her. If this is the standard form of worship at this church or camp, please remind me to never go there.

WARNING: Horrific screaming.

1 Corinthians 14:33 – For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.
1 Corinthians 14:40 – But all things should be done decently and in order.

Piper Book Giveaway!

Hey friends,

It’s been a lot of fun finding all sorts of edifying, heretical, funny, goofy and/or scary youtube videos and posting them each day for your edification and entertainment since I started this blog a week ago. I’ve even got a queue of many videos to come that you can look forward to. It has, however, taken quite a bit of time on my part to compile these videos (especially in finding stuff worth posting) and keep ’em coming everyday. Many pairs of eyes are much better than just the two I possess, and so I’m hoping that my devious plan will elicit your help. Here’s what that plan is: on June 30, I’m going to randomly select someone to receive out a copy of John Piper’s Finally Alive. (This is a brand new site, so you’ve got a good chance of winning! And no, you won’t have to pay for shipping!)

(Click on image for information about the book.)

There are four ways to enter:
1. You get one entry by tweeting about the giveaway. Your tweet should include the following information: Free Giveaway: Finally Alive by John Piper http://bit.ly/aSFAMA (via @postvhs) (One entry per person via this method).
2. You get one entry by posting about the giveaway on Facebook. Your Facebook post should include the same information as provided in method #1. Just email me a link to your facebook post with “postvhs” in the subject line. (One entry per person via this method).
3. You get one entry by posting a blog post that points back to here. It should trackback but if you’re concerned, email me a link.
4. You get two (additional) entries for each youtube link you send me that I choose to post on this site. (No limit – keep sending me them until June 30th)

Here are the guidelines for video submissions that will make yours more likely to be accepted:
1. The video MUST relate to Christianity in some way.
2. In general they should be short (less than 5 minutes is good). Exceptions will be made.
3. Common sense, baby.

Please send entries to davenporter@gmail.com (or message me them on Facebook) and be sure to include “postvhs” in the title so they’ll get past my spam filter. I will let you know which videos I will be using so you know what you’re getting credit for. Feel free to ask any questions in this thread.

Can you be saved without believing in Jesus?

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6

JUST GOOFY: Jesus is my friend.

Here’s a classic. Most of you have probably already seen this.

It’s interesting how quick we are to embrace Jesus as a “buddy”, but how slow we are to crown Him Lord, King, and Treasure of our lives.

Philippians 2:9-11: Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
