EPIC FAIL: Episcopal Bishop “interprets” the Bible

Do some serious scholarship on this passage and let me know what “new revelation” you find.

Be sure to ask, “What’s the context of this passage? What was it written to address? What was going on underneath it that this appears to speak to?”

Sin is sin. While homosexuality condemns a person no more than lying, stealing a piece of gum, or any other sin, if we justify homosexuality we will necessarily have to justify fornication as well–both of which are sins that not only bring the wrath of God, but also devastate the person committing the sins (even if they don’t realize or admit it). I’m not against gays–I need Jesus just as much as any gay person. I think the Church has failed gays in many ways, especially in seeing homosexuality as somehow being the “mother of all sins”. Idolatry, worshiping something other than God, is the mother of all sins, and we are ALL guilty of it. But Christians have screwed up on both sides of this issue, for this attempt at justifying homosexuality is just as much of a failure of the Church. It’s not helpful to tell an unrepentant sinner that they’re okay, because they’re not. They’re sinners like everyone else, and if they want a right relationship with God, they need to repent just like everyone else.

Telling people that sin is okay, and encouraging Christians to continue in their sin is so dangerous. In Jesus’ own words “whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6) I plead with you, especially you who are leaders: take Him seriously, for your own soul depends on it.
