EPIC FAIL: Who needs marriage, anyway?

You wanna hear a joke? Premarital sex is OK with God. Oh wait, this guy actually believes that.

No, you’re not the only one. I’m also concerned about who this “correction” about premarital sex is coming from. A 40-year old single guy? Oh, of course his motives are 100% pure, and he’s just looking for the truth in Scripture. Well, the REAL truth is that you probably shouldn’t bother wasting ten minutes of your life watching this video unless you want to try to convince yourself that God is perfectly fine with your sinful, sexually deviant lifestyle of sex outside of the covenant of marriage (or unless you’re interested in seeing just how far someone will go to do try to justify his sinful lifestyle). Even if you’re looking to justify your sin, you’ll be hard pressed to agree with all of the implications that Scott’s argument brings with it.

For example, In The Narrow Mind‘s radio interview with Scotty, Pastor Gene pointed out how Scott’s interpretation of 1 Corinthians 7 (in saying that wife could mean “girlfriend” and husband could mean “boyfriend”) implied that a man could biblically demand any woman’s body he wanted, and a woman could demand any man’s body she wanted–and use the Bible to make that demand. Yeah, even if you just met her today.

1 Corinthians 7:4 says, “For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.”

Scott’s translation of 1 Corinthians 7:4 says, “For the [woman] does not have authority over her own body, but the [man] does. Likewise the [man] does not have authority over his own body, but the [woman] does.” This is outside of marriage. Sound sketchy? Using the Bible to justify rape? Just a bit.
